Kylian Mbappé Breaks Records in France’s World Cup Victory Over Senegal

French forward Kylian Mbappé set new records during France’s impressive victory over Senegal in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

France triumphed with a score of 3-1 against Senegal in their opening match of the group stage, held at MetLife Stadium.

Mbappé contributed significantly to the team’s success by scoring two goals. He netted the first goal for France in the 65th minute with a powerful shot, assisted by teammate Michael Olise.

Just three minutes before the final whistle, Mbappé struck again, sealing his brace with a thunderous shot from inside Senegal’s penalty area, which goalkeeper Edouard Mendy failed to stop.

With these two goals, Mbappé continued to etch his name in World Cup history, bringing his total tally to 14 goals, surpassing Argentine star Lionel Messi’s record for most goals scored in World Cup tournaments.

Additionally, he broke the record previously held by Olivier Giroud, becoming the all-time leading scorer for the French national team.
