Egypt’s Labor Minister Highlights Skilled Workforce in Meeting with German Ambassador

On Tuesday, Labor Minister Hassan Raddad welcomed German Ambassador to Egypt Jürgen Schulz at his office in the New Administrative Capital to discuss enhancing cooperation on various mutual interests, particularly in labor mobility, vocational training, and exchanging expertise. They also focused on creating new opportunities for Egyptian youth to work abroad through legitimate channels.

The two sides explored the possibility of organizing regular joint activities and events to raise awareness about working abroad through official pathways and to identify the skills required in the German labor market. They emphasized strengthening collaboration in vocational training and sharing successful experiences, as well as engaging with German companies operating in Egypt. Additionally, they discussed organizing seminars and informational meetings to educate about the new labor law, which aims to balance the interests of both sides of the production process, encourage investment, and establish a safe and suitable working environment that creates more job opportunities for Egyptian youth.

During the meeting, Minister Raddad stated that Egyptian-German relations are continuously evolving at all levels, supported by political leadership in both countries. He highlighted the Ministry of Labor’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Germany to achieve mutual interests and enhance employment and development opportunities.

Raddad noted that Egypt has a large base of skilled and trained workers qualified according to international standards, enabling it to meet the needs of external labor markets. He stressed the importance of ongoing coordination to identify the professions and specialties needed in the German labor market and preparing young Egyptians for these jobs based on actual market demands.

The minister further pointed out that following directives from political leadership, Egypt is actively working to open new external job markets for its youth through safe and legitimate channels that ensure workers’ rights are protected while providing decent job opportunities. He emphasized the need for intensified awareness campaigns regarding available job opportunities abroad and legal pathways for accessing them.

For his part, Ambassador Schulz reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt across various fields, noting that Egypt is an important strategic partner for Germany in the region. This reflects the strength and resilience of economic ties between the two countries.

The German ambassador underscored the importance of continued coordination with Egypt’s Ministry of Labor on training, employment, and labor mobility issues to benefit both nations and contribute to providing quality job opportunities for Egyptian youth, particularly in sectors experiencing increasing demand within the German labor market.
