Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, stated that Egypt is leading a continental movement to enhance healthcare systems across Africa by localizing medical technology, boosting pharmaceutical manufacturing, building human capacities, and expanding equitable access to medical supplies and medications.
In a phone interview on the Egyptian television program “Good Morning Egypt” on Tuesday, Abdel Ghaffar highlighted that the African Medical Conference and Exhibition serves as one of the largest health platforms uniting African nations with health sector leaders, decision-makers, experts, and companies from over 125 countries worldwide.
He noted that this conference acts as a platform for African integration, fostering direct partnerships and investments between governments and global companies. He emphasized Egypt’s rich experiences in healthcare, including the elimination of Hepatitis C, the implementation of comprehensive health insurance, presidential initiatives, and malaria eradication.
The health spokesperson pointed out that Egypt has made significant strides through substantial expansions in pharmaceutical and medical supply factories, digital transformation in healthcare development, and a strategic shift in health concepts from merely providing treatment after illness to prevention and health building through presidential initiatives and comprehensive health insurance.
