Egypt’s Foreign Minister Commends Luxembourg’s Support for Palestinian Cause

On Monday, Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, during his visit to Luxembourg for a meeting of the Egypt-European Union Partnership Council.
During the meeting, Minister Abdel Aty praised the momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries, highlighted by a series of high-level visits throughout 2025.
He expressed hopes to expand economic cooperation with Luxembourg and increase trade volume and joint investments, particularly in infrastructure, transportation, clean energy, and banking services.
The Egyptian minister reviewed efforts by the government to improve the investment climate and enhance the private sector’s role in the national economy. He emphasized the importance of establishing a joint economic committee and a business council between both nations to support trade and investment collaboration.
The discussions also covered several regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially developments in Gaza.
Minister Abdel Aty commended Luxembourg’s supportive stance on the Palestinian cause, including its advocacy for a ceasefire, ensuring humanitarian aid access to the region, backing a two-state solution, and supporting efforts by UNRWA.
In this context, he stressed the importance of implementing the first phase of the U.S. president’s plan and commencing the second phase. He underscored the need for the national committee managing Gaza to commence operations from within the territory and for an international stabilization force to be deployed swiftly to support efforts aimed at restoring security and stability.
Additionally, Minister Abdel Aty briefed his Luxembourg counterpart on recent developments in Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, as well as situations in the Horn of Africa and Somalia. He outlined Egypt’s efforts to promote regional security and stability.
He emphasized that regional and international cooperation is essential to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic solutions for addressing various crises while welcoming a recent agreement between the United States and Iran.
For his part, Luxembourg’s Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s commitment to enhancing bilateral relations with Egypt across various fields. He expressed intentions to continue coordination and consultation regarding regional and international developments of mutual interest while praising Egypt’s pivotal role in supporting security and stability in the region.
