Hassan Shehata, the former head coach of the Egyptian national team, has shared valuable advice with current coach Hossam Hassan ahead of their highly anticipated match against Belgium in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup.

This marks Egypt’s fourth participation in the World Cup, as they find themselves in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand. The tournament features a total of 48 teams from various continents.

The Egyptian team is set to face Belgium tonight at 10 PM Cairo time, kicking off their campaign in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup.

In a recent interview on the sports program “Al-Laeeb,” Shehata recalled his own coaching experiences, stating, “When I was coaching the Egyptian national team, I always had every member of my coaching staff write down their proposed lineup on paper. We would agree on the formation each time, and I can only remember one instance where a regular starter was not included.”.

He emphasized, “Hossam Hassan must consult his coaching staff and listen to their input to avoid any mistakes.”.

Egypt hopes to leverage the skills and experience of its stars, particularly Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, to secure a positive result against Belgium. Meanwhile, Belgium aims to assert its strength as it seeks victory in its opening match of the group stage.
