Hassan Shehata Prefers Local Coaches Over Foreign Options for Al Ahly

Written byFerdous Saeed

Hassan Shehata, the former star and coach of Zamalek, has expressed his reservations regarding the possibility of Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta taking over as head coach of Al Ahly in the near future.

During his appearance on the program “Al Laeeb Fi Kase Al Alam” with host Moheeb Abdel-Hady on MBC, Shehata emphasized his preference for giving opportunities to Egyptian coaches. He stated that he does not support the idea of hiring foreign coaches, especially when there are local talents with experience and the capability to achieve success.

Shehata classified Hussein Amouta as a foreign coach, which contributes to his skepticism about hiring him. He highlighted that Egyptian coaches have demonstrated their competence on numerous occasions, successfully winning championships and achieving significant milestones.

Furthermore, Shehata noted that he considers Hassan El Badry a better option in this context. While he respects Amouta’s abilities and coaching career, he believes that Egyptian coaches remain the superior choice for leading major clubs.
