Egypt and Ghana Strengthen Economic Cooperation and Security Efforts

On Sunday, June 14, Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, held a telephone conversation with Samuel Abalakua, Ghana’s Foreign Minister, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchange views on mutual interests.
Minister Abdel Aati praised the positive developments in Egyptian-Ghanaian relations across various sectors. He emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two nations. He urged maximizing benefits from available opportunities and encouraging private sector involvement in supporting national development plans in Ghana, particularly in infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and education. He also highlighted the significance of ongoing collaboration in capacity building through training programs organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.
The discussion also covered prospects for cooperation in health and pharmaceuticals. Minister Abdel Aati reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting African nations in addressing health challenges while building on existing cooperation between the two countries in pharmaceutical industries and knowledge transfer. He outlined the support and expertise that Egypt could offer based on its advanced capabilities in healthcare and drug manufacturing.
Additionally, the two ministers exchanged views on several African issues. Minister Abdel Aati reiterated Egypt’s full support for efforts aimed at combating terrorism in West Africa and the Sahel region. He stressed the need for a comprehensive approach that combines security and development dimensions to tackle this menace. The ministers agreed to continue coordinating and consulting to support peace, security, and stability across Africa while enhancing development efforts and continental integration.
