Body Found Near Iran’s World Cup Training Base in Mexico

Mexican authorities in Tijuana discovered an unidentified body inside a car trunk parked near the training base of the Iranian national football team, which is preparing for the 2026 World Cup.

The Tijuana District Attorney’s Office stated in an official release that a security patrol became suspicious of a vehicle parked in the vicinity of the Iranian team’s camp. Upon inspecting the vehicle, officers found a body concealed in the trunk, carefully wrapped in a black plastic bag.

Following the discovery, security forces cordoned off the area, and forensic teams began collecting fingerprints and examining the body to identify the victim and determine the cause of death. Authorities have launched an extensive investigation to understand the circumstances surrounding this incident and to ascertain whether it poses any security risks related to the Iranian team’s presence in the area.

The Iranian team is competing in Group G of the 2026 World Cup, alongside Egypt, Belgium, and New Zealand. They will kick off their campaign against New Zealand before facing Belgium and concluding with a match against Egypt.
