Achraf Hakimi, the right-back for the Moroccan national team, spoke about the upcoming match against Brazil in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing that the Atlas Lions are ready for the tournament.

The 2026 World Cup kicked off last Thursday and is set to conclude on July 19, featuring 48 teams from various continents.

Morocco is placed in Group C of the tournament alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti, aiming to replicate their surprising run from the Qatar World Cup.

The Moroccan team is preparing to face Brazil in their opening group match, scheduled for Sunday at 1 AM local time in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and 2 AM in the UAE.

In a press conference, Hakimi stated, “Morocco is ready to face Brazil. I am confident in our ability to deliver an outstanding performance.”.

He added, “We all know Vinicius’s quality. I have played against him several times, and to limit his threat, we need to defend as a united team.”.

Hakimi continued: “We understand Brazil’s strength, but we also possess our own. In Africa, they call us ‘Africa’s Brazil,’ and we are fully prepared to achieve a new milestone with the support of the Moroccan people.”.

The Paris Saint-Germain star concluded by mentioning his relationship with Brazilian player Marquinhos: “We haven’t talked much in recent days as both of us are focused on our national teams. While we joke around in Paris, on the pitch, we both want to win.”.
