Four Y Care Clinics in Alexandria Shut Down for Impersonating Doctors
The Ministry of Health and Population has closed four branches of the “Y Care” clinics in Alexandria, administratively shutting them down after confirming violations of licensing requirements and the presence of individuals impersonating doctors.
This decision followed a surprise regulatory campaign conducted by the Department of Private Medical Practice in coordination with the Egyptian Drug Authority and Supply Investigations, in response to directives from Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to intensify monitoring of private medical facilities.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained that the campaign was initiated after promotional advertisements for the clinics were spotted on TikTok, leading to simultaneous field inspections at four locations: Branch 45 Qibli, Branch 45 Bahri, Fleming, and Ibrahimia.
Dr. Hisham Zaki revealed that all branches were operating without licenses, and those present lacked valid practice permits. As a result, four official reports were filed for impersonating a doctor, along with significant quantities of medication seized at the Ibrahimia and Fleming branches.
The ministry emphasized its commitment to ongoing regulatory campaigns, which include monitoring social media platforms and taking strict legal actions to protect public health. It urged citizens to avoid dealing with unlicensed facilities and to verify official licenses before receiving any medical services.
