Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf to Open 21 Mosques Across Eight Governorates

The Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf is set to inaugurate 21 mosques on Friday, June 12, 2026. This initiative includes the construction of four new mosques, the renovation and refurbishment of 14 existing ones, and maintenance and development work on three others.

Since July 1, 2025, a total of 1,159 mosques have been opened, which includes 888 newly constructed or renovated mosques and 271 that have undergone maintenance and development.

The Ministry confirmed that from July 2014 to date, a total of 14,648 mosques have been renovated or maintained at an estimated cost of approximately EGP 27.9 billion.

List of Mosques Opening Today

Asyut Governorate

The following mosques will be inaugurated in Asyut: Al-Hayy Al-Qayyum Mosque in Al-Akrad Island, Minqabad; Al-Tawhid Mosque in Naj’ Mahani, Mir village; Sheikh Abdel Qadir Mosque in Halaal Village; Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque in Kom Ba’rour, Al-Ma’abda Eastern; and Al-Tawbah Mosque in Hawd Al-Mazani, Bani Rafaa.

Sharqia Governorate

The opening includes Al-Tawbah Mosque in Kafr El-Gendi, Minya Qamh; and Ibrahimia Mosque in Didaamoun village, Faqous.

Beheira Governorate

The Beheira governorate will see the reopening of Al-Sharqan Al-Kabir Mosque in Barnoji village; Fa’id Qibli Mosque in Sidi Ghazi village; Al-Rahman New Mosque in Ghalalba village; and Attallah Mosque in Kom Al-Baraka. Additionally, Al-Hisas Mosque will undergo maintenance and development work.

Aswan Governorate

A new mosque named Martyrs of Badr will be built in Naj’ El-Shetab, Selwa Bahri; Imam Bukhari Mosque will be established at Azbat El-Salam; and Sheikh Ismail El-Mahlil Mosque will be constructed in Khour El-Zaq area.

Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate

The renovation of El-Sharaki Mosque in Azbat El-Sharaki will take place along with maintenance work on El-Ghandour Mosque in Abu Farin neighborhood.

Qena Governorate

The renovation of Al-Tawbah Mosque in Naj’ Qandil will take place at Qal’iya village.

<h3:Fayoum Governorate

The following mosques are set for renovation: Haj Rashad Mosque in Ajmayyin village and Al-Rahma Mosque at Elias Azbat.

Qalyubia Governorate

The maintenance work on the Wahid Mosque located at Sadekiya village will also be completed.
