Diaa El-Sayed, a former star of Egyptian football, has shared encouraging words with Hossam Hassan, the head coach of Egypt’s national football team, as the countdown to the 2026 World Cup begins.

The tournament kicks off tonight at 10 PM local time with a high-stakes match between Mexico and South Africa, drawing significant attention from football fans around the globe.

Egypt is placed in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand. The team will launch its World Cup campaign against England on Monday evening.

In an exclusive interview with “Al-Aweek,” Diaa El-Sayed urged: “Don’t be afraid, Captain. You are now among the elite, and we are a great team with no room for fear. Stay strong; we are behind you and supporting you.”.

He further praised player Mohamed Hani, stating, “He is a great talent capable of stopping any player. We must instill confidence in our boys against any opponent. God willing, Egypt will progress to the second and third rounds as well.”.

When discussing potential World Cup champions, El-Sayed noted: “I see Spain, Argentina, France, and Portugal as strong contenders for the title, but there could be surprises in this tournament.”.
