Cairo Governor Emphasizes Youth Innovation for Green Transformation
Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, attended a seminar organized by the Cairo Governorate to raise awareness about the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects at the Utilities Information Center in Sheraton.
Among those present were Eng. Mona Al-Batrawy, Deputy Governor for the Eastern Region, Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development and Coordinator of the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology, Planning, the Small Enterprises Development Authority, and the National Council for Women.
Governor Saber emphasized Cairo’s commitment to supporting the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects, which is a pioneering effort aimed at achieving sustainable development goals and enhancing climate action by encouraging innovative ideas and projects that can address environmental challenges and improve citizens’ quality of life.
The governor noted that the city is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for participants in the initiative, including raising awareness of its objectives and offering necessary facilitation for project owners. This support aims to transform innovative ideas into feasible projects that yield tangible economic, environmental, and social benefits.

He also confirmed ongoing monitoring of winning projects from previous rounds and providing necessary support to enhance their chances of success and expansion.
The governor stressed the importance of encouraging youth and entrepreneurs to present innovative solutions that support green transformation in Egypt.
Ambassador Hisham Badr highlighted that the National Initiative for Smart Green Projects serves as a leading model for embedding sustainable development and climate action in Egypt since its launch in 2022 under political leadership.
He explained that the initiative aims to support innovative solutions to combat climate change through applicable green projects that can be expanded across various governorates.
Badr noted that thousands of projects participated in previous rounds, with several outstanding projects selected as national success models. He added that the initiative not only focuses on selection but also includes capacity building and training personnel to evaluate projects based on precise scientific criteria.
