Foreign Ministers of Egypt and Pakistan Call for Resumption of US-Iran Negotiations

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced a phone conversation between Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. This discussion is part of ongoing consultations between the two countries regarding regional developments and efforts to support the US-Iran negotiation process.

According to Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the conversation addressed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Egypt and Pakistan. Both ministers expressed their commitment to continuing joint cooperation and expanding their relationship across various fields for mutual benefit.

The ministers also exchanged views on recent regional developments, emphasizing the importance of ongoing political and diplomatic efforts to contain current tensions in the region. They highlighted the necessity of resuming negotiations between the United States and Iran to reach a consensus that would reduce tensions, end conflicts, and support regional stability.

Furthermore, they affirmed the importance of prioritizing diplomatic solutions to avoid escalating conflicts and containing current tensions amid serious security, economic, and geopolitical repercussions resulting from ongoing wars affecting both the region and the world.

The spokesperson added that the ministers also discussed arrangements for hosting in Cairo the fourth meeting of a quadrilateral mechanism involving Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. This meeting aims to continue joint consultations and enhance efforts to de-escalate tensions while ensuring close coordination among the four nations in light of significant developments in the region.
