His Holiness Pope Tawadros II.

During a sermon at the Virgin Mary Church in El-Maamoura, Alexandria, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II emphasized the church’s role as a place for learning virtues and serving others. He noted that this contributes to the nation’s welfare and fosters good citizenship.

The Pope remarked, “When President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi decided to build a new capital for Egypt, he began with the construction of a mosque and a church, marking a spiritual foundation. This has led to the success of the New Administrative Capital, which continues to grow and present itself clearly to the world. We take pride in it before every guest who visits Egypt, and it will become a magnificent representation of our country.”.

He further stated, “The church and mosque are spiritual entities that play a fundamental role in nation-building. Thus, having religious institutions aids in nurturing responsible citizens who can serve Egypt both domestically and internationally, becoming a bright and beautiful image of our nation.”.

Pope Tawadros II concluded with the phrase, “Long live Egypt,” highlighting that the name El-Maamoura symbolizes beauty and development.
