Kieran McKenna Emerges as Front-Runner for Fulham Manager Position
Fulham FC is reportedly ‘increasingly likely’ to appoint Kieran McKenna, the current manager of Ipswich Town, as their new head coach. This development follows the confirmation that Marco Silva will leave Craven Cottage to succeed Jose Mourinho at Benfica.
With Silva’s departure, Fulham has been actively searching for a replacement. While fellow candidate Thomas Frank publicly distanced himself from consideration last week, McKenna has consistently ranked high on Fulham’s shortlist.
McKenna’s impressive track record includes guiding Ipswich to three promotions in the last four seasons, which has bolstered his candidacy. According to talkSPORT, he is now the frontrunner for the managerial role at Fulham.

Understanding Kieran McKenna’s Release Clause
The report highlights that despite an eye-watering £8 million release clause in his contract with Ipswich, McKenna remains the leading candidate for the position. Ipswich, having just been promoted, is keen to retain him and reportedly does not wish to part ways with their successful manager.
Nevertheless, Ipswich’s management is already exploring potential alternatives should McKenna express a desire to join Fulham. It remains uncertain whether they would be willing to negotiate if he requests a move.
Since taking over in December 2021, McKenna has achieved significant success, finishing as runner-up in both League One and the Championship twice and winning 105 of his 222 matches in charge. Notably, 24 of his 53 defeats occurred during the recently concluded Premier League season.

Other Candidates for Fulham’s Managerial Role
If a deal for McKenna does not materialize, Fulham may face challenges in securing another suitable candidate. Jose Bordalas has recently signed a new contract with Getafe, while Frank Lampard is expected to remain with Coventry City.
Former Fulham manager Scott Parker could be considered as an option. However, higher-profile candidates such as Arne Slot, Ruben Amorim, and Oliver Glasner are unlikely to engage with the club if they are not seen as the top choice by Fulham’s decision-makers.
