President Sisi Commits to Supporting Dam Projects in the Democratic Republic of Congo

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to enhancing trade exchanges and encouraging investments with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), emphasizing collaboration in vital sectors, particularly water resources, irrigation, and project implementation.

This statement was made during a joint press conference with Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi at the presidential headquarters, coinciding with President Tshisekedi’s visit to Egypt.

President El-Sisi highlighted Egypt’s dedication to supporting dam projects in the DRC aimed at fostering development. He also noted the importance of providing necessary technical support and building capacities for Congolese national staff. He praised Congo’s responsible stance regarding Nile water management.

The Egyptian leader extended his congratulations to President Tshisekedi on Africa Day and the upcoming 66th anniversary of Congo’s independence and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations. He reflected on the historical ties between Egypt and Congo dating back to 1960.

Furthermore, President El-Sisi mentioned that he engaged in fruitful discussions with his Congolese counterpart, which reflected their mutual desire to optimally utilize both countries’ capabilities for the benefit of their peoples.

He expressed appreciation for the positive outcomes and political benefits arising from recent reciprocal visits and coordination between the two sides.
