Chinese Embassy in Cairo Launches Short Video Competition to Celebrate Diplomatic Relations
The Media Center of the Cabinet has announced the launch of a short video competition by the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, themed “Together We Celebrate Friendship and Create Dreams.” This initiative is part of the celebration marking the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, as well as the “Year of Chinese-African Cultural and Human Exchanges.”.
According to the Media Center, several themes have been established for submissions. One key theme is “Dialogue of Civilizations,” which focuses on exploring the cultural exchanges between Egypt and China, two ancient civilizations.
Another theme, “Echoes of History,” invites participants to recall significant moments from over 70 years of friendship between Egypt and China, as well as China’s relationship with Africa. Participants can express this through storytelling about an old image or artifact that symbolizes friendship among nations.
The competition also features a theme titled “Dream Seekers,” highlighting practical cooperation stories between Egypt and China, as well as between China and Africa across various fields. This includes examples from daily life in economic cooperation zones like the Chinese-Egyptian trade cooperation zone in Suez, or experiences shared by Egyptians working and residing in China.
Additionally, there is a theme called “China Through My Eyes,” which allows participants to share impressions regarding China’s economic and social development, its advancements in technological innovation, and its achievements in modernization and openness that positively influence Egyptian-Chinese relations.
The competition targets all individuals in Egypt interested in China’s development and its unique traditional culture, along with those keen on fostering friendly Chinese-Egyptian and Chinese-African relations.
Regarding participation requirements, the Media Center clarified that submitted works should be positive and align with the laws, customs, and values prevalent in both countries. Entries can be submitted in Chinese, Arabic, or English, with a recommended video length of 3 to 4 minutes in MP4 or MOV format. All submissions must be original.
The submission period runs from May 6, 2026, to June 30, 2026. This will be followed by an evaluation phase from July 1 to July 20, 2026.
Results will be announced through a collaboration between the embassy and an external professional judging team. Prizes include three first-place awards, seven second-place awards, ten third-place awards, along with surprise awards.
Selected winning entries will be showcased on the embassy’s official platforms and social media channels.
To participate, interested individuals can post their videos on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), or Instagram while tagging the Chinese Embassy’s accounts. They should also include the contest hashtag: #70thAnniversaryofDiplomaticRelationsBetweenChinaandEgypt.
