Labor Ministry Warns Against Fake Job Advertisements Abroad
The Ministry of Labor has urged citizens seeking employment abroad to adhere strictly to official channels for job opportunities.
In a recent press statement, the ministry emphasized its role as the official body responsible for overseeing the organization of national labor migration and implementing bilateral labor agreements and memoranda of understanding signed with friendly countries.
The ministry confirmed that it directly supervises all stages of worker selection in coordination with relevant governmental bodies in host countries. This effort aligns with the state’s strategy to provide safe, sustainable, and legitimate job opportunities that protect the rights of national workers while ensuring transparency and equal opportunities for all applicants.
The ministry cautioned against falling prey to misleading efforts by individuals, pages, or unlicensed companies that exploit young people’s aspirations for overseas employment by posting fake advertisements that require payment for recruitment or travel procedures.
Citizens are advised to follow these guidelines:.
- Avoid dealing with any intermediaries or unlicensed recruitment offices or unofficial platforms on social media claiming connections to overseas job opportunities or international labor agreements made by the ministry, including seasonal work agreements in the agricultural sector signed with Greece. This is to prevent falling victim to fraud schemes.
- All applications for overseas job opportunities should be submitted directly through the official website of the Ministry of Labor, which includes detailed announcements about required professions, conditions, criteria, and application procedures.
- All job opportunities provided by the ministry are entirely free of charge; no fees are collected for applying. The ministry does not engage with any intermediaries in this regard.
- For inquiries or verification of any overseas job opportunity’s credibility, citizens can visit the old headquarters of the Ministry of Labor (General Administration of Employment – 3 Youssef Abbas Street – Nasr City – Cairo) or contact labor directorates in their respective provinces for accurate information and guidance.
If there is a need to verify the licensing of any foreign recruitment company, individuals should visit the General Administration of Foreign Employment Companies at the old ministry headquarters in Nasr City.
The Ministry of Labor reaffirmed its full commitment to protecting the rights and interests of national workers both within Egypt and abroad. It stated it would not hesitate to take legal action against anyone found promoting fake job advertisements or engaging in foreign employment activities without proper licensing, ensuring citizens’ rights are safeguarded.
