Pope Tawadros II Visits Bahiyya Hospital for Breast Cancer Care
Pope Tawadros II visited Bahiyya Hospital today, a facility dedicated to breast cancer treatment and providing psychological and social support for female patients, along with early disease detection.
Upon his arrival, the Pope was welcomed by Layla Salem, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Bahiyya Foundation and granddaughter of Bahiyya Wahby, who conceived and founded the center for free breast cancer treatment. Also present were Ambassador Nabila Makram, Executive Director of the National Coalition for Civil Action, along with hospital leadership. They provided an overview of the hospital’s establishment, its various departments, and operational methods, emphasizing the free services offered to all.
The Pope toured the hospital and offered blessings to the patients present. In his speech, he praised the humanitarian role played by the institution in providing free treatment to all patients. He also commended the high standards of care and professionalism exhibited by the hospital staff, noting their compassionate and dignified approach to treating visitors. He highlighted the importance of collaboration between Bahiyya Foundation and the General Public and Social Services Diocese under the umbrella of the National Coalition for Civil Action.
