Inter Milan Falls Short of Liverpool’s Price for Curtis Jones

The talented academy graduate was linked with a transfer to Inter during the January window, but Liverpool opted against allowing his departure midway through the season.
Despite this, Inter’s interest in Jones remains strong. The Serie A club may look to replicate successful strategies employed by Napoli in recent years as they pursue the Liverpool player this summer.
Napoli has seen significant success with Premier League signings, including impactful performances from players like Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund after their moves from Manchester United.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport indicates that a significant gap remains between Inter’s valuation and Liverpool’s asking price. While specific figures have not been revealed, it is reported that Inter would need to increase their offer by approximately £8.64 million to close the gap.
Earlier reports suggested that Inter had proposed a fee of around £17.3 million, which Liverpool deemed unacceptable.
Additionally, it is understood that Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio recently met with Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes to discuss Jones, although no agreement was reached during their talks.

Last season, Jones received regular playing time but was often utilized as a right-back, limiting his chances in his preferred midfield role. Had Arne Slot remained as coach, he might have been compelled to explore options outside of Liverpool due to difficulty securing a consistent position in central midfield.
Liverpool is reportedly seeking around £35 million for the 25-year-old midfielder, who may now have the chance to solidify his role in midfield under new manager Andoni Iraola.
The Reds could still consider offloading another midfielder before the transfer window closes, particularly amid ongoing uncertainty regarding Alexis Mac Allister’s future, as he could be sold if an appropriate offer arises.
