Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Egypt’s Prime Minister, convened a meeting today to discuss the latest developments regarding the initiative aimed at encouraging the installation of solar panels in homes and factories. The meeting was attended by Eng. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Eng. Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, along with several officials from relevant ministries and authorities.

At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Madbouly emphasized the need to expedite the completion of various executive procedures related to the “Encouraging Solar Panel Installation in Homes and Factories” initiative. He highlighted the importance of launching it swiftly to achieve its objectives of expanding renewable energy usage and encouraging as many citizens and factories as possible to take advantage of the benefits provided by the initiative.

In this context, the Prime Minister tasked officials with finalizing the details of the initiative for presentation to the Cabinet for approval. He also called for a comprehensive plan to promote incentives and facilitation measures that will be established to increase interest in solar energy system installations.

During the meeting, Eng. Mahmoud Esmat presented an overview of the initiative’s framework and main parameters, as well as proposed implementation mechanisms and incentives aimed at beneficiaries. These efforts are designed to support the state’s goals of increasing renewable energy contributions within the energy mix while enhancing resource efficiency.

Moreover, the Minister of Industry confirmed ongoing coordination between the Ministries of Industry and Electricity regarding various technical, operational, and logistical aspects of this significant initiative. He outlined several areas currently being worked on in collaboration with relevant entities such as financing institutions and Egypt’s Federation of Industries, aiming to provide suitable funding mechanisms and incentives that encourage factories to expand their use of solar energy. This is expected to help reduce production costs and enhance the competitiveness of national industry.

The initiative aims to capitalize on solar energy by installing solar units in industrial complexes or large factories, as well as homes. This effort is intended to reduce electricity consumption while alleviating pressure on natural gas supplies and Egypt’s national electricity grid.
