Manal Awad Leads Selection Committee for 23 New Leadership Positions in Local Development and Environment
Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Environment, has chaired the selection committee for candidates applying for 23 leadership positions at the General Secretariat. These positions range from excellent to high-level and include General Director roles, in accordance with the egypts-cabinet-approves-nine-key-decisions-in-investment-housing-and-civil-service-sectors/">Civil Service Law and based on announcement No. (1) of 2026.
The committee comprises a distinguished group of experts, heads of national institutes, and former governors to ensure transparency and select the best talents.
The announcement includes two positions at the excellent level: Permanent Undersecretary and Head of Inspection Sector, six high-level positions for heads of central departments, and 15 General Director roles in vital sectors such as planning, digital transformation, crisis management, and governance.
A total of 444 candidates applied, with 370 meeting the eligibility criteria to be tested before the committee.
On the first day, personal interviews were conducted for approximately 32 candidates vying for the positions of Permanent Undersecretary, Head of Inspection and Follow-up Sector, and General Director of Local Planning.
The interviews focus on assessing professional experiences, career paths, and candidates’ visions for enhancing institutional work and modernizing local and environmental management in line with state objectives.
Dr. Manal Awad stated: “We aim to select the best competencies and human resources capable of supporting institutional development efforts and modernizing work systems. These interviews are designed to evaluate candidates’ technical proposals to ensure improved performance and enhance leadership services within the ministry.”.
