Egypt and Sudan Strengthen Cooperation in Civil Aviation Development

Dr. Samah Hefny, Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation, welcomed Mr. Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani Haroun, Sudan’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, along with his accompanying delegation, at the Ministry’s headquarters to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in various fields of air transport.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Amr Nagaty, the Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ms. Lamia Sami, Director General of International Relations at the ministry, and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The discussions focused on potential collaboration between the two countries in civil aviation, including leveraging Egyptian expertise in airport development, air navigation, training personnel, and providing technical and operational support to enhance the efficiency of Sudan’s air transport system.

Minister Hefny emphasized that Egyptian-Sudanese relations reflect deep-rooted ties and ongoing cooperation between the two nations. He noted that support for Sudan aligns with directives from political leadership aimed at assisting Sudanese brothers to bolster development efforts and recovery while supporting growth plans for sustainable development.

Hefny further stated that Egypt’s civil aviation sector is committed to sharing its advanced expertise and capabilities with Sudan through specialized training programs and transferring technical and operational knowledge. This initiative aims to develop human capacities and improve air transport efficiency while preparing the sector to meet future demands, thereby strengthening cooperation between the two countries and supporting shared development paths.

On his part, Minister Haroun expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s role in supporting and developing the aviation industry at both African and Arab levels. He praised Egypt’s advanced expertise across various civil aviation fields.

The Sudanese minister also valued the technical and training support provided by Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation, expressing his country’s eagerness to expand cooperation in the future by benefiting from Egypt’s experience in developing air navigation systems and airports while enhancing specialized human resources. This collaboration is expected to advance efforts in developing the air transport sector and serve the mutual interests of both nations.
