During his visit to Alexandria, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, inspected the Omar Suleiman Axis project, which is part of the western arc of the ring road in the governorate. He was welcomed by Eng. Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, and Major General Osama El-Ganzoury, Head of the Central Authority for Reconstruction.

The Minister of Housing highlighted that the Omar Suleiman Axis is a vital strategic project that enhances the network of main roads and axes. It connects the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road, Alexandria International Airport, Borg El Arab City, and the northwestern coast over a length of 20 kilometers. This initiative is part of the state’s efforts to develop and improve road infrastructure and facilitate connectivity between major routes.

Eng. Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, emphasized ongoing coordination between the governorate and all relevant authorities to monitor the execution of strategic projects aimed at improving services for residents and promoting sustainable development. He noted that these projects reflect the government’s commitment to Alexandria as one of Egypt’s key economic and developmental hubs.

Major General Osama El-Ganzoury noted that this project represents a crucial traffic route designed to accommodate increasing traffic flows between the Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road and the coastal international road. It aims to alleviate traffic loads on the Borg El Arab Stadium Road while enhancing traffic flow in the area around Alexandria International Airport.

Furthermore, Major General Essam El-Gharably, Head of the Middle North Coast Reconstruction Authority, explained that the project includes constructing a dual carriageway with six lanes in each direction, a central island, and side shoulders. It also features four overpasses and two bridges above the route of the high-speed electric train, along with five surface bridges over waterways. Additionally, it involves covering Palestine Drain over a length of 2.3 kilometers to improve traffic efficiency and elevate service levels in infrastructure within the region.
