Prime Minister Launches Extensive Tour to Open Development Projects in Alexandria

On Sunday morning, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, commenced an extensive tour in Alexandria aimed at inaugurating and inspecting various service and development projects in the governorate. This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to activate different projects and ensure their operational readiness while addressing the challenges faced during implementation. The aim is to expedite project completion according to established timelines, ultimately benefiting citizens.

Joining the Prime Minister on this tour are several key officials including Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport; Randa El-Menshawy, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities; Khaled Hashim, Minister of Industry; Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria; Nahed Youssef, Head of the General Authority for Industrial Development; along with other executive leaders from the governorate.

Upon his arrival in Alexandria, Dr. Madbouly expressed his pleasure at visiting the historic city again after several months. He highlighted Alexandria’s significant historical value and its importance as a major tourist destination on the global tourism map.

Dr. Madbouly noted that Alexandria has witnessed substantial developmental progress over recent years under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s leadership. This includes significant achievements in infrastructure, utilities, and national projects. He pointed out improvements in road networks and urban development projects aimed at eliminating unsafe areas and slums. Additionally, he mentioned initiatives like the “Decent Life” presidential project that have transformed living conditions in the governorate.

During his visit, he announced the inauguration and inspection of several factories in Alexandria which represent a real addition to local investments and are expected to create thousands of job opportunities for young people in both Alexandria and neighboring governorates. Furthermore, he mentioned various service projects aimed at easing traffic congestion across different streets in the city.

The Prime Minister emphasized that these projects have significantly enhanced the services provided to residents of Alexandria, aligning with the government’s objectives across all sectors to improve citizens’ quality of life.

Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, reported that a total of 94 strategic projects have been executed or are underway since 2014 with an investment cost of 402 billion Egyptian pounds (EGP). Of these, 63 projects have been completed at a cost of 96 billion EGP while 31 ongoing projects are expected to be completed with an estimated cost of 306 billion EGP.

He highlighted key ongoing initiatives such as the establishment of New Abu Qir City on a reclaimed area of 3,500 acres and improvements to transportation systems like Abu Qir Metro. Furthermore, projects related to water supply for agricultural development under the “New Delta Project” were also discussed alongside road construction efforts that have seen investments totaling 17 major projects spanning 200 kilometers over the past decade.

The Governor also noted significant advancements in sanitation services, drinking water supply, electricity provision, public lighting projects, and comprehensive strategies for managing rainwater drainage in Alexandria. Additionally, he mentioned educational sector improvements including land allocation for building new schools with an investment of 1.9 billion EGP for a total of 275 new schools.

Lastly, he indicated ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to enhance health service quality in preparation for implementing the ambitious “Comprehensive Health Insurance” project backed by political leadership.
