المبادرة الرئاسية لإنهاء قوائم الانتظار.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has announced that it has successfully completed 3,236,256 surgical procedures as part of the presidential initiative to eliminate waiting lists and prevent the accumulation of new cases in critical surgical interventions since its launch in July 2018.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, noted that the initiative’s hotline has received 393,625 calls from patients since it began operations. Additionally, approximately 365,795 cases have been monitored from July 1, 2023, to June 1, 2024.
The initiative encompasses a range of surgeries including cardiac, orthopedic, ophthalmological, oncological procedures, as well as cerebral and cardiac catheterizations, kidney and liver transplants, cochlear implants, and peripheral catheterizations. Patients are centrally distributed to hospitals to ensure they receive care as quickly as possible.
The ministry emphasizes that all services under this initiative are completely free of charge for patients, aiming to alleviate the burden on those who cannot afford medical expenses while providing urgent and critical surgeries at the highest quality standards and in the shortest time possible.
Furthermore, Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, advisor to the Minister of Health for the initiative and head of the Health Insurance Authority, highlighted the ministry’s commitment to enhancing hospital efficiency through continuous training for medical staff and equipping them with modern devices. The electronic system is also being developed to facilitate data tracking and patient transfers between relevant entities based on each hospital’s capacity.
