Egypt and Japan Discuss Boosting Tourism Programs and Expanding Direct Flights

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, japan-discuss-enhanced-cooperation-in-urban-development-and-logistics/">Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Hiroyuki Takahashi, Chairman of the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA), along with representatives from major Japanese tourism companies. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the tourism sector and increasing the number of Japanese tourists visiting Egypt.
The minister expressed appreciation for JATA’s role in promoting Egypt as a tourist destination, emphasizing that the Japanese market is a priority for Egypt. He also highlighted the participation of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion at the Tourism Expo Japan 2026 as part of efforts to promote Egyptian tourism.



During the meeting, Dr. Abdel Aty highlighted the excitement surrounding the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which he described as one of the world’s premier cultural destinations and a successful example of Egyptian-Japanese cooperation. He urged JATA and Japanese tourism companies to intensify tourism programs to Egypt and take advantage of developments in the tourism sector and its infrastructure, as well as to increase direct flights operated by EgyptAir between Cairo and Tokyo.
