Gvardiol Addresses Rumors of Move to Real Madrid
Croatian defender Josko Gvardiol has broken his silence regarding speculation linking him with a transfer to Real Madrid during the upcoming summer transfer window.
This comes as Real Madrid is actively seeking to bolster its defense, having already secured the signings of Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan and Ibrahima Konaté from Liverpool, while continuing to enhance the team under the anticipated management of José Mourinho.
During a press conference, Gvardiol was asked about Real Madrid’s interest in his services and made it clear that he feels comfortable and stable at Manchester City at this time.
The Croatian defender stated in comments reported by the international outlet Tribuna: “I am happy at Manchester City, and I have everything I need here.”.
He added, “I played in almost all matches before my injury, and I was getting a lot of minutes. After the World Cup, we will see what can happen and how the future develops.”.
Gvardiol joined Manchester City in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig and has since helped the team secure several titles, most notably the Premier League for the 2023-2024 season, along with the FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
He is considered a key component in Pep Guardiola’s defensive strategy, where he is utilized primarily as a center-back and occasionally as a left-back due to his tactical flexibility and high physical and technical abilities.
