Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, conducted phone calls with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The discussions focused on the rapidly evolving situation in the region, particularly the Iranian crisis and its implications for regional security and stability, as well as the developments in Sudan.
According to Ambassador Tamim Khalaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the calls addressed updates on U.S.-Iran negotiations and diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a consensus that considers the concerns of all parties involved, including Gulf states, to enhance regional security and stability.
The ministers also reviewed the ongoing crisis in Sudan. Dr. Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s firm stance supporting Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity while emphasizing the need to maintain Sudanese national institutions as a fundamental pillar for restoring security and stability. He rejected any parallel entities that undermine this goal.
Additionally, he highlighted the importance of achieving a humanitarian ceasefire as a precursor to a sustainable cessation of hostilities, ensuring humanitarian aid access, and supporting a comprehensive political process led and managed by Sudanese stakeholders that would restore security and stability while meeting the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
