Barcelona and Monaco Near £20 Million Transfer for Marc Casado
Barcelona and Monaco are in advanced talks regarding a summer transfer for Marc Casado, which is anticipated to reach around £20 million (€23 million).
Last summer, the two clubs arranged a season-long loan for Ansu Fati, with a buy option set at £9.5 million (€11 million). Now, Fati is expected to make a permanent move to Monaco, providing Barcelona with financial flexibility. The strong relationship between the clubs could facilitate another transfer this summer.

While discussions have included Caio Henrique as a potential alternative to Joao Cancelo for the left-back position, it appears that another sale from Barcelona to Monaco is on the horizon.
Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari reported on Wednesday that negotiations are progressing between Barcelona and Monaco for a permanent transfer of defensive midfielder Marc Casado.
Casado is viewed as a likely departure from Camp Nou this summer due to his limited role in midfield, where he trails behind Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi, and rising star Marc Bernal. His profile has attracted interest from various clubs in the Premier League and Saudi Arabia, making him an ideal candidate for sale to bolster Barcelona’s finances ahead of larger investments.
A Deal Beneficial for All Parties

According to Nicolo Schira, Casado is nearing an agreement with Monaco for a transfer valued at £15.5 million (€18 million), plus an additional £4.3 million (€5 million) in performance-related bonuses. Barcelona will retain a 20 percent sell-on clause for any future transfer involving the 22-year-old midfielder, who is expected to sign a contract lasting until June 2031.
This deal appears advantageous for all involved. Monaco aims to strengthen their midfield ahead of their participation in the Conference League next season following the probable exit of Lamine Camara. For Casado, it presents an opportunity for increased playing time and the potential to triple his current salary.
From Barcelona’s perspective, they will receive immediate financial compensation for a player valued at approximately £17 million (€20 million) in the market, along with a lucrative sell-on clause that could yield future profits.
