Dr. Ibrahim Saber, Cairo Governor.

During a meeting of the Plan and Budget Committee at the House of Representatives today, Dr. Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, emphasized that the governorate is adopting a clear strategy to diversify its funding sources. This approach aims to reduce reliance on the state budget for implementing infrastructure and community development projects. The governor noted that the city is actively seeking unconventional funding sources to support initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of life and improving services for residents.

Governor Saber explained that this strategy focuses on bolstering self-financing, maximizing revenues, and optimizing the utilization of the governorate’s assets. Additionally, it includes expanding partnerships with the private sector and civil society organizations to secure necessary resources for developmental projects and achieve sustainable growth in the capital.

The governor also pointed out that an increase in budget allocations will bolster the governorate’s efforts to complete development projects, enhance infrastructure efficiency, and improve basic services across various neighborhoods. This aligns with national objectives to elevate living standards and improve quality of life in Cairo.

Earlier today, the Plan and Budget Committee approved a draft budget for Cairo’s General Administration for the fiscal year 2026-2027, totaling 8 billion Egyptian pounds, up from 5.68 billion pounds in the current fiscal year’s budget.
