The management of Al Ahly Club is actively pursuing a new foreign head coach to replace Danish manager Jes Torup, whose departure is imminent as discussions regarding the termination of his contract progress.

Officials at Al Ahly are keen to finalize the appointment of a new coach as soon as possible, aiming to announce the decision following the completion of the contract termination process with Torup. Ongoing negotiations between the two parties revolve around the severance fee and the terms of ending the contract.

Currently, Dutch coach Mark van Bommel tops the list of candidates for the managerial role, following intensive discussions between him and Al Ahly’s management in recent days. The club has proposed an annual salary of $3.5 million, while Van Bommel is seeking €4.5 million per year. Efforts are underway by management to bridge this gap and reach a final agreement.

Van Bommel enjoys strong support from several club officials who believe he is one of the most qualified candidates to lead the team in its upcoming challenges, given his extensive coaching experience and notable achievements.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly’s management continues to evaluate other potential candidates, including Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso, former head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, his compatriot Luis Carvalhal, and Romanian Cosmin Olaroiu, who previously managed the UAE national team.
