Egypt’s Education Ministry Implements New Exam System for High School Students

Written byNoha El Shafie

Shadi Zalta, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, announced that the ministry has completed preparations for the high school examinations, which began today. This follows an intensive work plan that started over three months ago to ensure smooth exam operations and provide a safe and organized environment for students.

In a phone interview on the program “This Morning” aired on Nile News Channel, Zalta explained that this year marks the first implementation of the “exam clusters” system. This system consolidates several high school exam committees within each educational administration to enhance control over the committees, strengthen security measures, and improve inspection and field monitoring efficiency.

He noted that the design of the exam clusters includes independent entrances and exits for each committee to prevent overcrowding among students and facilitate accurate and smooth inspection procedures. This initiative aims to enhance discipline within the committees and reduce any violations.

Zalta added that the ministry has intensified awareness efforts for students by issuing clear guidelines regarding prohibited items in the exam rooms, particularly various electronic devices. Additionally, explanatory videos have been circulated on how to correctly record personal data and write their exam numbers on answer sheets and essay questions.

The number of students registered for this year’s high school exams stands at 921,709, including 918,306 under the new system and 3,403 under the old system.

He emphasized that all necessary organizational and security measures have been taken to ensure that exams proceed smoothly. Strict regulations will be enforced to combat cheating or violations of instructions, with some infractions potentially resulting in a two-year ban from taking exams.

Zalta confirmed that all relevant authorities involved in the examination process have been present on-site for some time to monitor final preparations and ensure compliance with organizational procedures across the country.
