Manchester United Targets Victor Osimhen as Top Striker for Summer Transfer
Manchester United has reportedly identified Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen as their ‘dream target’ for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Following a third-place finish in the Premier League, manager Michael Carrick and United fans are eager for further enhancements to the squad for the 2026-27 season.
Despite the departure of influential midfielder Casemiro, there is growing optimism at Old Trafford, with funds allocated for several new signings.
As Joshua Zirkzee is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, Benjamin Sesko will need additional competition for the club’s number nine role.
According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United is exploring options to secure Osimhen’s signature.

Challenges in Signing Osimhen
The report suggests that Galatasaray’s high valuation of Osimhen could present a significant hurdle. After initially acquiring him on loan, Galatasaray made a Turkish record payment of €75 million (£65.06 million) to sign him from Napoli.
In his two years with the club, Osimhen has recorded 54 goals and 13 assists in 69 appearances across the Super Lig, Champions League, and Europa League.
While it is possible for a team to offer more than what Galatasaray paid for the 27-year-old striker, they must also consider his wage demands.
The report indicates that Osimhen is regarded as ‘the most difficult’ player to sign from a shortlist of five strikers.

Alternatives to Osimhen
In addition to Osimhen, Manchester United is reportedly considering other strikers including Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta, Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic, and Bournemouth’s Junior Kroupi.
Mateta has one year remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park while Vlahovic is set to depart Juventus on a free transfer. However, Kroupi could demand over £80 million should any offers be made.
Moreover, veteran Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski may also be on their radar, contingent upon his potential move to MLS.
