Achraf Hakimi Faces Legal Troubles Ahead of Morocco’s Match Against Scotland

Written byFerdous Saeed

Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi is facing serious legal issues while representing his national team in the 2026 World Cup. Currently competing in the group stage, Hakimi’s focus is on the upcoming match against Scotland on Saturday.

The Moroccan national team began their World Cup campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brazil and is now preparing for their second match.

According to French network RMC, the Versailles Court of Appeal has confirmed that Hakimi will be tried in the coming months in a criminal court in Hauts-de-Seine, following allegations related to a rape case.

Hakimi reportedly learned about this development while in Morocco’s training camp for the World Cup, having been officially notified at a time when he is trying to concentrate on the next match.

The allegations date back to February 25, 2023, when a woman filed a complaint at a police station in Val-de-Marne, accusing the player of being involved in a rape incident that occurred the night before. The investigation later moved to the public prosecutor’s office in Nanterre.

In response to these accusations, Hakimi has consistently denied them, with his defense team claiming that the young woman attempted to exploit and blackmail him.

The player took to his personal account on X (formerly Twitter) to express that he has been under significant pressure due to this case. He emphasized that he feels he is being treated differently because of his fame and looks forward to the trial to prove his innocence.

Hakimi stated that he chose to remain silent for an extended period out of respect for legal proceedings, affirming his confidence in the judiciary and his desire to reveal the full truth before the court, away from media speculation.
