Canada Scores First Goal Against Qatar in World Cup 2026 Match

Canada’s national team took the lead against Qatar by scoring the first goal during their match on Thursday at BC Place, as part of the second round of the 2026 World Cup.

The goal came from Kyle Larin in the 16th minute, following a rebound inside Qatar’s penalty area, which he successfully converted despite an attempt by the Qatari goalkeeper to save it.

The 2026 World Cup is being held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, featuring 48 teams. The tournament commenced on June 11 and is set to conclude on July 19.

The match between Canada and Qatar kicked off early Friday morning at 1:00 AM local time in Egypt and Saudi Arabia, which is 2:00 AM in the UAE.

Both Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina began their World Cup journeys with a positive result as they ended their opening match in a 1-1 draw at BMO Field in Toronto. Meanwhile, Qatar secured a valuable point by drawing with Switzerland at Levi’s Stadium in California with a late goal.
