National Council for Childhood and Motherhood Highlights Economic Empowerment of Women as Key to Sustainable Development

Dr. Sahar El-Sanbaty, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, recently inaugurated the “Women&Co” platform, launched by Pathfinder International. This initiative aims to enhance women’s economic empowerment, create job opportunities, and support inclusive economic growth.
The launch event was attended by Ambassador Nabila Makram, Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work; Dina El-Sayrafi, Assistant Minister of Social Solidarity for International Cooperation and Relations; Dr. Mohamed Abou Nar, Head of Programs and Impact at Pathfinder International; along with representatives from various government entities, international organizations, development partners, and the private sector.
Dr. El-Sanbaty emphasized that empowering women economically is a fundamental pillar for achieving comprehensive and sustainable development. She noted that enhancing women’s participation in the labor market positively impacts children, families, and society as a whole, contributing to a more stable and prosperous future.

She praised the launch of the “Women&Co” platform as an important step towards fostering partnerships among various stakeholders to support Egyptian women and create a more empowering and inclusive environment, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 goals and national efforts to enhance women’s roles as key partners in development.
Dr. El-Sanbaty also stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between national institutions, development partners, and the private sector to launch innovative initiatives that support women and girls, contributing to sustainable economic and social development that benefits Egyptian families and society at large.
The “Women&Co” platform is an innovative initiative led by women aimed at promoting economic growth through supporting women’s economic empowerment, expanding job opportunities and leadership roles, while providing more inclusive opportunities for women in Egypt. The platform brings together innovators, business leaders, financial institutions, government entities, and development partners to collaboratively design solutions that can be developed and scaled up.
Services offered by the platform will include consultations on building capacity in environmental, social, and governance practices for the private sector. It will also organize workshops that bring together civil society representatives, private sector stakeholders, and local community women to formulate practical solutions that meet investment requirements while supporting women’s economic empowerment.
