Egypt Signs Three Agreements to Localize Vaccine Production and Technology Transfer

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, presided over the signing of three strategic cooperation agreements aimed at technology transfer and localizing vaccine and serum production.

This event took place during the fifth edition of the Africa Health ExCon conference and exhibition, held under the theme “Health Sovereignty in Africa: Leadership, Resilience, and Self-Reliance,” which is sponsored by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry’s official spokesperson, stated that the signed agreements involve collaboration between Genvax for vaccines and pharmaceuticals, the global company Sinovac, the Regenerative Medicine Center, and Chumakov Center. The goal is to enhance modern technology transfer and localize vital industries in Egypt, thereby supporting national pharmaceutical security and developing local research, development, and manufacturing capabilities.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar emphasized that these agreements represent a qualitative leap in the state’s strategy to localize advanced vital industries and strengthen international partnerships for transferring modern expertise and technologies. This initiative aims to achieve self-sufficiency in vaccines and serums while enhancing the capacity to address health challenges.

The signing ceremony was also attended by Dr. Ali El-Ghamrawy, head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, Dr. Hisham Sateet, head of the Egyptian Unified Procurement Authority for Medical Supplies and Medical Technology Management, along with several health leaders and representatives from relevant agencies.
