FIFA Celebrates Hossam Hassan After Egypt’s Match Against Belgium in World Cup 2026
The official account of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) paid tribute to Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, during the ongoing World Cup 2026.
On its Facebook page, FIFA shared two photos of Hassan: one from his playing days with the Egyptian team during the 1990 World Cup and another showing him as he leads the Pharaohs in the current tournament.
The post was captioned with “Egyptian Icon,” highlighting Hassan’s extensive career in Egyptian football both as a player and as a coach.
This symbolic recognition coincided with Egypt’s match against Belgium, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday evening. The game was part of the opening round of group play in the World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
Egypt is competing in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.
