President Abdel Fattah Sisi participated today in Évian, France, in a session titled “Emerging from Crises and Ensuring Stability in the Middle East,” held as part of the G7 Summit.
Attendees included leaders from G7 member states, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, along with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
According to the official spokesperson for the presidency, President Sisi presented Egypt’s perspective on regional developments. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive resolution to geopolitical crises in the Middle East to ensure both regional and global peace and stability, particularly following years of turmoil caused by ongoing wars and conflicts in the region.
Sisi highlighted that a fair and lasting solution to the Palestinian issue is essential based on a two-state solution that guarantees an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. He underscored the urgency of expediting the implementation of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza.
In this context, Sisi expressed appreciation for Trump’s efforts that led to a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and recently an agreement to halt hostilities with Iran. He affirmed Egypt’s readiness to collaborate with regional and international partners to find sustainable solutions to outstanding issues, hoping that such agreements would mark a new phase of conflict resolution and reduced regional tensions.
The President reiterated Egypt’s complete rejection and condemnation of unjustified attacks on Gulf countries, expressing full solidarity with these nations in preserving their security and stability. He stressed that the security of Arab states is an integral part of Egypt’s national security. In relation to Iran’s crisis, he noted that Gaza has been significantly impacted by territorial expansions that have left only 30% of its area available for Palestinians.
Sisi also pointed out that establishing stability in the region requires all parties to adopt a responsible approach grounded in respect for national sovereignty, rejecting any aggressions or interference in internal affairs, ending occupation, adhering to international law standards, and ensuring state institutions retain control over arms.
The necessity for regional arrangements regarding collective security was also emphasized, taking into account all parties’ concerns while adhering to international law concerning transboundary resource management—particularly regarding water security, energy security, and maritime passage safety.
Moreover, he reiterated Egypt’s commitment to establishing a zone free from nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East while advocating for comprehensive adherence to nuclear non-proliferation treaties within the region to maintain regional peace and stability.
The discussion also touched on maritime navigation freedom. The President asserted the importance of ensuring safe passage through international waterways according to international law principles while rejecting any disruptions or attempts at altering their legal status.
During this session, participants discussed preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and emphasized maintaining freedom of navigation through international waterways. The situation in Lebanon was also addressed; leaders criticized Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s actions against Lebanon and Palestinians while urging Israel to cease targeting Lebanon and withdraw its forces.
Several participating leaders stressed the need for resolving the Palestinian issue while moving towards implementing phase two of Gaza’s ceasefire agreement alongside establishing a Palestinian state next to Israel. They also addressed energy infrastructure issues amid negative impacts from regional developments on maritime trade routes and energy supplies.

In this context, several leaders commended Egypt’s role under President Sisi in promoting stability and peace in the region. The Italian Prime Minister noted that Sisi’s participation underscores that true peace can only be achieved through agreements like those established between Egypt and Israel. She highlighted the importance of finding a just solution for Palestinians. Canadian Prime Minister emphasized both Sisi’s and Trump’s significant contributions towards reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
At the conclusion of the meeting, President Sisi remarked that the peace treaty between Egypt and Israel serves as a model worth emulating. He urged seizing opportunities to achieve peace in the region while stressing prevention against any efforts undermining Trump’s agreements regarding ceasefires either in Gaza or with Iran. He pointed out that Israel’s failure to withdraw from occupied points in Lebanon has exacerbated tensions despite what was stipulated by previous ceasefire agreements.
