Lawyer Confirms Resolution of Salah’s Case, No Ruling from CAS Against Zamalek
Fahmy Belhaj, the lawyer representing former Zamalek player Salah El-Masri, has clarified recent rumors regarding a decision from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejecting the club’s request to lift a disciplinary registration ban after resolving the player’s financial dispute.
Zamalek had settled El-Masri’s outstanding dues, totaling $808,000, by agreeing to pay $400,000 upfront and to install the remaining amount by next July, thus resolving the conflict between the parties.
In televised remarks, Belhaj stated that the settlement was officially finalized between the player and the club, with both parties signing an agreement. He also mentioned that El-Masri submitted a request to FIFA on June 9 indicating no objection to halting the execution of the penalty, confirming that all issues have been fully resolved among all parties involved.
Belhaj further emphasized that reports claiming CAS rejected Zamalek’s request are incorrect, stressing that no response or ruling regarding the lifting of the penalty has been issued by the court as of yet.
He added that discussions linking the penalty to past cases are inaccurate, clarifying that the suspension is related to contract terminations without just cause and not to any previous legal records.
Concluding his statements, he noted that he has not been contacted by Zamalek regarding any legal matters before CAS but praised the legal approach taken during this player’s case.
