Akram Afif Leads Qatar’s Attack Against Switzerland in World Cup 2026 Opener

Julen Lopetegui, the head coach of the Qatari national team, announced the official lineup for Qatar’s match against Switzerland as they kick off their campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The tournament will take place across the United States, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.

The match is set to begin at 10 PM Cairo and Mecca time at Levi’s Stadium, as part of the first round of Group B in this global event.

The Qatari team enters this match with high hopes of achieving a positive start to their World Cup journey and securing their first points in the quest for advancement to the next round. This edition marks Qatar’s second participation in World Cup history, and it is the first time they have qualified through the qualifiers.

On the other hand, Switzerland aims to leverage its extensive experience in major tournaments to secure a strong start that will give them an advantage in competing for one of the two qualification spots from their group.
