Written byFerdous Saeed

Reports from French media have revealed that Argentine authorities are taking formal steps against parents who fail to meet their child support obligations, coinciding with the national team’s preparations for the 2026 World Cup.

The French newspaper Le Figaro reported that officials in Buenos Aires have compiled a list of approximately 13,000 individuals who are delinquent in their child support payments. This list has been forwarded to relevant agencies in the United States to prevent these individuals from entering stadiums during the tournament.

According to the report, these individuals will be barred from attending matches featuring Argentina until they resolve their legal issues and pay all outstanding financial obligations.

Campaign for Financial Responsibility

This initiative is part of a broader campaign aimed at compelling those who neglect their financial responsibilities regarding child support to comply with legal rulings. Authorities are leveraging the significant public interest in Argentina’s matches at this global event as a means of enforcement.

Officials believe that linking match attendance to compliance with financial obligations serves as an effective pressure tactic to ensure adherence to the law and protect children’s rights.

The Argentine national team, reigning champions from the previous World Cup, is set to compete in Group D alongside Algeria, Jordan, and Austria, beginning its campaign with a match against Algeria in the group stage opener.
