Sergio Barbarić, the head coach of canadas-coach-jesse-marsch-expresses-frustration-after-draw-with-bosnia-in-world-cup/">Bosnia and Herzegovina, addressed the media following his team’s 1-1 draw against Canada in their opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The tournament commenced last Thursday and is set to conclude on June 19.

In a match held at Toronto’s stadium, Bosnia and Herzegovina found themselves held to a stalemate despite leading until the final ten minutes.

Barbarić expressed his disappointment in comments reported by the Bosnian outlet BHRT, stating, “When you are ahead until the last ten minutes and do not win, you must feel sorry for that.”.

He added, “At the same time, we must be realistic; we were fortunate, but we missed opportunities that were worse than theirs. In the end, both teams deserved to draw with one goal each. It’s a valuable point for us in the group stage, which is our target.”.

He concluded by noting that this result sets the stage for their upcoming matches: “We know how the standings will look in this group from now on. However, we are not here for calculations; we have two more matches ahead and we will strive for victory.”.
