Manchester United Eyes Mamadou Sangare as Midfield Reinforcement

Written byFerdous Saeed

Manchester United is reportedly preparing to submit an offer for Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare, as the club has been ‘completely charmed’ by the talents of the Mali international.

The 20-time English champions have already reached an agreement with Atalanta BC for Ederson, but they are considering adding two more midfielders this summer.

A transfer for Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson now seems highly unlikely, with Manchester City advancing on a deal for the England international.

Additionally, a move for Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni appears improbable. However, Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes remain viable targets.

Manchester United Plans Summer Bid for Sangare

According to Foot Mercato, Manchester United is actively planning a move for Sangare, viewing the 24-year-old as an ideal addition during the summer transfer window.

The report indicates that the Red Devils have been ‘completely charmed’ by Sangare, who has been labeled a ‘monster’ by Foot Mercato.

While initial discussions suggested a potential transfer fee of €40 million (£34.6 million), journalist Sebastien Denis notes that the final price could be ‘much higher.’.

Sangare joined Lens from Rapid Vienna last summer on a five-year contract and made 33 appearances last season, contributing three goals and four assists.

He has also earned 16 caps for Mali and is attracting attention from several top clubs due to his impressive performances in the ongoing season.

Potential Implications of Sangare’s Transfer

If Ederson becomes Manchester United’s first midfield signing of the summer, further additions are anticipated, particularly if Manuel Ugarte departs alongside Casemiro.

The prospect of acquiring Anderson seems too costly, with reports suggesting Bournemouth and West Ham seek up to £85 million for Scott and Fernandes respectively.

This makes a move for Sangare appealing due to his lower cost and dynamic playing style, which suits the Premier League well.

However, Manchester United may need to act swiftly to secure Sangare’s signature as Foot Mercato reports that they are not the only club interested in his services.
