Completion of Intermediate Certificate Exams Marks Start of Summer Vacation

On Thursday, students across Egypt completed their final exams for the second semester of the intermediate certificate, officially concluding the 2025/2026 academic year as per the approved timeline from the Ministry of Education.

The summer vacation will commence on Saturday, June 13, and will last until Thursday, September 10.

The Egyptian Mothers Union for Educational Advancement monitored parents’ and students’ reactions across various governorates regarding the last days of the intermediate certificate exams. A sense of happiness and relief was reported among students due to the simplicity of the exams.

According to Abeer Ahmed, founder of the Egyptian Mothers Union for Educational Advancement, students in Cairo noted that the science exam was straightforward and suitable for average students. Similar sentiments were echoed by students in Sharqia and Alexandria regarding the ease of their science exam.

Students in Assiut also expressed satisfaction with the social studies exam’s simplicity, a sentiment shared by parents and students in Kafr El Sheikh and Dakahlia.

Abeer Ahmed encouraged parents and students to make the most of their vacation through recreational, sports, and cultural activities, as well as beneficial courses in languages or programming. She emphasized preparing well for high school or technical diplomas based on each student’s interests and abilities.

The intermediate certificate exams are crucial as they determine which type of secondary education students will pursue—general secondary education, vocational education, or specialized schools with specific admission criteria such as STEM schools, advanced technology schools, or Japanese-Egyptian schools.

The exams are conducted over two semesters with a total score of 280 points—140 points allocated for each semester—exclusively based on examination scores without including continuous assessment grades.

Students need more than 200 points to enroll in general secondary education or application technology schools and over 250 points for advanced schools.

With all transportation class exams and intermediate certificate exams completed, only students in general certificates remain: those in general secondary education and technical diplomas. Technical diploma students will continue their exams until June 18, while general secondary education exams are set to begin on June 21 and run until July 17, 2026.
