Education Minister Discusses Training Technical Staff for Pharmaceutical Schools

Mohamed Abdel Latif, Egypt’s Minister of Education and Technical Education, met with Dr. Ali Al-Ghamri, Head of the Egyptian Drug Authority, to discuss enhancing collaboration between the two entities in training technical staff specialized in the pharmaceutical industry.
The partnership aims to launch specialized applied technology schools, with agreements signed with Italian partners for the establishment of these schools as part of a larger initiative to create 100 technological schools.
During the meeting on Thursday, the Minister emphasized the ministry’s commitment to developing technical education systems that align with labor market needs. This includes expanding partnerships with industrial sectors and exploring new specialties and educational programs in pharmaceuticals, aimed at producing skilled technicians equipped with essential knowledge for this vital sector. The initiative also seeks to engage specialized pharmaceutical companies in launching new applied technology schools and providing targeted training programs for students.
Abdel Latif highlighted the importance of establishing sustainable cooperation pathways with state institutions and the industrial sector, which will facilitate practical training opportunities for students in real work environments, thus enhancing their readiness for employment upon graduation.
In response, Dr. Al-Ghamri stressed the significance of collaborating with the Ministry of Education in training technical personnel according to modern professional and technological standards in drug manufacturing. He expressed the authority’s readiness to provide technical support and expertise necessary for developing relevant curricula and training programs.
The meeting also confirmed agreed-upon standards regarding student and teacher selection as well as curriculum preparation, which have been approved by Italian authorities. They discussed implementation strategies for five schools set to begin operations in the upcoming 2026/2027 academic year. Additionally, they focused on supporting practical training programs that meet labor market demands while contributing to national strategies aimed at localizing and enhancing pharmaceutical industries. Plans were also discussed to increase the number of specialized pharmaceutical schools in the future.
