14 Countries Confirm Participation in Arab Athletics Championships in Ismailia, Egypt

The organizing committee for the third Arab Athletics Championship for Under-23 athletes and the first Arab Athletics Championship for Under-16 athletes has announced that 14 Arab countries will participate in the events scheduled to take place in Ismailia, Egypt, from June 20 to June 24. The participating countries include Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, Oman, Syria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Iraq, Algeria, Libya, Djibouti, Morocco, and the host nation, Egypt.

According to Mr. Moaz Abbas, a member of the Arab Athletics Federation Board and head of the media and public relations committee, the level of participation in both championships reflects a growing interest in athletics across the Arab world. He emphasized that national federations are keen to invest in youth categories as they represent the foundation for building future generations capable of achieving significant accomplishments.

Abbas noted that holding the third Arab Championship for Under-23 athletes alongside the inaugural Under-16 event provides an ideal opportunity to discover and nurture talent while enhancing competition among Arab athletes. He stated that this broad participation sends positive messages indicating ongoing development and growth within Arab athletics despite various challenges.

Regarding the media and marketing aspect of the championship, Abbas explained that the Arab Athletics Federation is implementing a comprehensive media and marketing strategy aimed at boosting public and media attendance at the event. This includes expanding coverage through traditional media and digital platforms and activating social media channels to provide real-time updates on competitions and results. Additionally, they plan to produce media content highlighting promising Arab talents and their success stories.

He added that success in organizational, technical, and media levels will enhance the status of Arab athletics while increasing public interest. This success will also open wider avenues for attracting sponsors and partners to positively impact the development of the sport and create future champions.

Furthermore, Abbas revealed that during the championships there will be a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Arab Athletics Federation to discuss several strategic issues concerning the future of athletics in the Arab region. Key topics will include evaluating programs and championships conducted over recent years as well as enhancing youth competitions and talent discovery initiatives.

He also mentioned that this year marks a golden jubilee for the federation as it celebrates fifty years since its establishment. Abbas affirmed that this occasion is a significant historical milestone to reflect on the federation’s journey and achievements while also serving as an opportunity to renew future visions and strengthen cooperation among Arab federations.

The federation aims to honor leaders and sports figures who contributed to establishing and developing Arab athletics during this anniversary while documenting its history and accomplishments. Additionally, they plan to launch initiatives aimed at supporting youth categories and training technical and administrative staff to ensure sustainable success and prepare a new generation of Arab champions capable of competing on international stages.
