Real Madrid Shows Strong Interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez Amid Transfer Speculation

Written byFerdous Saeed

Real Madrid is reportedly keen on acquiring Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as the club prepares for a potentially busy summer transfer window at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea from Benfica in January 2023 for £106.8 million, has quickly become a key player in the Premier League, amassing 169 appearances and scoring 31 goals for the Blues.

Under contract until 2032, Chelsea is under no immediate pressure to sell. However, reports suggest that the club would consider offers around £120 million if a serious buyer emerges.

The Argentine international has expressed his desire to live in Madrid one day, which has only intensified speculation about a possible move to Spain’s capital.

According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid continues to monitor Fernandez’s situation as he prepares to represent Argentina at the World Cup.

Club president Florentino Perez has secured another term after defeating challenger Enrique Riquelme, paving the way for Jose Mourinho’s anticipated return to the Bernabeu.

Perez recently stated that Madrid is willing to invest at least €150 million (£129.4 million) on a new star player, though speculation surrounds who that player might be.

Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise has been frequently mentioned as a potential target, but the Bundesliga side has made it clear that he is not available for transfer.

Fernandez remains one of several elite players under consideration, despite Perez suggesting that his primary target does not currently play in the Premier League.

Manchester City is also reportedly interested in Fernandez as they prepare for life after Pep Guardiola. Incoming manager Enzo Maresca is eager to reunite with the Argentine midfielder and views him as an ideal addition to City’s midfield of the future.

The uncertainty surrounding Rodri’s long-term future adds another layer of complexity, with Real Madrid among clubs showing interest in the Ballon d’Or winner.

If Real Madrid decides to make a serious move for Fernandez, it could significantly complicate Manchester City’s plans, as Los Blancos typically pursue priority targets with substantial intent to complete deals.
